"Sometimes the best plan is to shoot and then shoot again."
— Shiro-4[1]

Shiro-4 is an Exo Guardian who resided at the Iron Temple. An expert weaponsmith and trusted scout for the Vanguard, he helped Lord Saladin Forge and Cayde coordinate the campaign against the Fallen during the SIVA Crisis, providing vital intel to the Guardians on the field. He is partnered with the Ghost Suzume.

Biography[edit]

"There's a stone cairn outside the city; been there since Six Fronts. No one visits it, but once a year, I put a fresh lily on top. I hope it brings them peace."
— Shiro-4

Shiro-4 participated in fighting back a Fallen assault on the Last City known as the Battle of the Six Fronts. In the aftermath of the battle, a stone cairn was built to commemorate the dead just outside of the City. Shiro would visit the memorial every year and place a lily on top in remembrance of his fellow Guardians who perished in the battle.[2]

Shiro-4 would be part of a Fireteam made up of the Andal Brask and Cayde-6. Sometime after Six Fronts, Shiro and Cayde, alongside Nian Ruo and Lush, would be attacked by Taniks, the Scarred, leaving Nian to die their final death and Lush to lose his Ghost. Shiro, Cayde and Lush would manage to escape the Fallen mercenary and his crew and report what happened to Andal.[3] When Lush went missing after he tried to go on a solo mission and didn't return, Shiro would tell stories of what happened to him, traveling unknown roads and and digging up unknown treasures, including one where he fought alongside the Rat King in an unseen war.[4] After Andal Brask became Hunter Vanguard, he would provide the two Exo Hunters of intel on stashes and Fallen movement so that they could get them before anyone else, claim what they could and give the rest to the City.[5]

After Cayde-6 became Hunter Vanguard after Andal was killed by Taniks, Shiro-4 would act as a scout for the Vanguard, running between Earth, Luna and Venus gathering intel and engaging in hit-and-run attacks on active Fallen crews.[6] Sometime later,

When the House of Devils returned and rediscovered the nano-tech plague, SIVA, utilizing it to evolve themselves and corrupt the Plaguelands, Shiro worked alongside Lord Saladin to combat the mutated Fallen. Shiro assigned patrols and strikes against the Devil Splicers, such as destroying Sepiks Perfected,[7] ending the Splicers' experiments on the Hive by killing Kovik, Splicer Priest[8] and finally slaying the Splicer leader, Aksis, Archon Prime.[9] Shiro would also help the Young Wolf in crafting several weapons, including the reforged Gjallarhorn,[10] the Khvostov 7G-0X,[11] and Outbreak Prime.[12]

Following the SIVA Crisis, Red War and the death of Cayde-6, Shiro would continue to act as a scout for the Vanguard. Most notably, he sent a intelligence report to Crow about Future War Cult during the Clash of the Chosen.[13]

Personality and traits[edit]

"You are not welcome."
"I beg to differ.
"
— An Unknown Enemy and Shiro-4[14]

Unlike his mentor Cayde-6, Shiro is much more no-nonsense and wastes little time joking around outside of occasional sarcasm. He also relies heavily on intel, while Cayde is known for his precise intuition. Though he respected the more experienced Guardians like Lord Saladin and would defer to their leadership, he was not completely subservient as he voiced the opinion that the House of Devils Fallen were the more immediate threat than SIVA, which turned out to be true when the Devil Splicers revealed themselves.

Though Shiro respected his mentor and mourned his death greatly, he joined the majority of Hunters in stating that he absolutely has no interest in taking Cayde's place in becoming the next Hunter Vanguard, though his Ghost believed he should.[citation needed]
