Essence Bearers are powerful Taken Centurions encountered in Battleground: Core.

Gameplay

Essence Bearers are encountered at the start of the Battleground. Defeating them will drop orbs of Consecrated Essence needed to destroy Taken Blights and progress deeper into the Core. The first variant is encountered twice, wielding an Arc Slug Rifle and can throw out a Darkness Bolt to temporarily blind its enemies. The second variant will spawn after six Blights have been destroyed, which wields a Void Projection Rifle and can launch a Solar Mortar.

Trivia

• The model of the Essence Bearer is close to other Taken Centurion bosses, which have Scout Legion armor, but has a few additions from modern Legion armor such as a Cabal Frag Detonator, Tabard and Jump Pack on the back.
  • Additionally, the second variant has the back wings of a Blood Guard Centurion and is colored Shadow Legion Purple, while the first variant is colored a red similar to other powerful Taken such as Quria.
